Avian Influenza
1. Canada Reports 2 Cases in Poultry and 3 Cases in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 19 and 20, Canada reported two cases in poultry and three cases in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Ontario. A total of 7,002 poultry were infected and died, 8,752 were culled, and 181 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected and died, with two culled.
2. United States Reports 9 Cases in Wild Birds and 7 Cases in Poultry of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 23, the United States reported nine cases in wild birds and seven cases in poultry of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across eight locations, including New York State. A total of 176 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected, 42 were culled, and 431,000 commercial poultry were culled.
3. Czech Republic Reports 3 Cases in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 19, the Czech Republic reported three cases in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across two locations, including Plzeň Region. Fifty-nine wild birds and free-range poultry were infected and died, and 118 were culled.
4. Poland Reports 3 Cases in Wild Birds and 2 Cases in Poultry of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 19, 20, and 22, Poland reported three cases in wild birds and two cases in poultry of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across three locations, including Greater Poland Voivodeship. Three wild birds were infected and died, and 2.931 million poultry were infected, with 800 deaths.
5. Belgium Reports 1 Case in Poultry and 97 Cases in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 19, 22, and 23, Belgium reported one case in poultry and 97 cases in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across three locations, including Flanders Region. Sixteen thousand poultry were infected, 36 died, and 39,000 were culled. Additionally, 138 wild birds were infected, with 133 deaths.

On January 22, Belgium reported one case in wild birds of H5 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Brussels. One wild bird was infected and died.
7. Austria Reports 1 Case in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 19, Austria reported one case in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Lower Austria. One wild bird was infected and died.
8. Latvia Reports 1 Case in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 19, Latvia reported one case in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Riga. One wild bird was infected and died.
9. United Kingdom Reports 45 Cases in Wild Birds and 5 Cases in Poultry of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 19 and 23, the United Kingdom reported 45 cases in wild birds and five cases in poultry of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across two locations, including England and Scotland. Fifty-two wild birds and free-range poultry were infected and died, 847 were culled, and 40,000 poultry were infected, with 3,619 deaths.
10. Israel Reports 6 Cases in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 20, Israel reported six cases in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across three locations, including Haifa District. Six wild birds were infected and died.
11. Brazil Reports 1 Case in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 21, Brazil reported one case in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Mato Grosso State. Fifty-four free-range poultry were infected, 52 died, and 339 were culled.
12. Japan Reports 3 Cases in Poultry of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 21, Japan reported three cases in poultry of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across three locations, including Hyogo Prefecture. Sixty-one poultry were infected and died, and 202,000 were culled.
13. South Africa Reports 2 Cases in Poultry of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 20, South Africa reported two cases in poultry of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Western Cape Province. A total of 358 poultry were infected and died, and 117 were culled.
14. Nigeria Reports 2 Cases in Poultry of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 21, Nigeria reported two cases in poultry of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across two locations, including Kaduna State. A total of 3,097 poultry were infected, 590 died, and 2,507 were culled.
15. Switzerland Reports 1 Case in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 21, Switzerland reported one case in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Vaud Canton. Three wild birds were infected and died.
16. Moldova Reports 2 Cases in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 21 and 23, Moldova reported two cases in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across two locations, including Chișinău District. Five wild birds were infected and died.
17. Denmark Reports 1 Case in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 22, Denmark reported one case in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Hjørring Municipality. Five wild birds were infected and died.
18. Finland Reports 2 Cases in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 22, Finland reported two cases in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Southern Finland Province. Two wild birds were infected and died.
19. Netherlands Reports 13 Cases in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 22, the Netherlands reported 13 cases in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across five locations, including Limburg Province. Twenty-three wild birds and free-range poultry were infected, 10 died, and 13 were culled.
20. France Reports 110 Cases in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 23, France reported 110 cases in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across ten locations, including Gironde Department. Three hundred forty-four wild birds and free-range poultry were infected and died, and 652 were culled.
21. Serbia Reports 1 Case in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 23, Serbia reported one case in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Pomoravlje District. One wild bird was infected and died.
22. Romania Reports 1 Case in Wild Birds of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 23, Romania reported one case in wild birds of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in Vaslui County. Eight wild birds were infected and died.
23. Italy Reports 4 Cases in Wild Birds and 3 Cases in Poultry of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
On January 23, Italy reported four cases in wild birds and three cases in poultry of H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza across three locations, including Lombardy Region. Four wild birds were infected and died, and 185,000 poultry were infected, with 275 deaths and nearly 185,000 culled.

1. Poland Reports 7 Cases of Newcastle Disease
On January 19 and 21, Poland reported seven cases of Newcastle disease across three locations, including Greater Poland Voivodeship. A total of 925,000 poultry were infected, 4,113 died, and 493,000 were culled.
2. Spain Reports 1 Case of Newcastle Disease
On January 21, Spain reported one case of Newcastle disease in the Valencian Community. Thirty-one thousand poultry were infected and died, and 45,000 were culled.
3. Malaysia Reports 5 Cases of Rabies
On January 21, Malaysia reported five cases of rabies in Sarawak State. Five domestic dogs were infected and culled.
4. Hungary Reports 3 Cases of Pseudorabies
On January 19, Hungary reported three cases of pseudorabies across two locations, including Baranya County. Three domestic pigs were infected.
5. Spain Reports 1 Case of Lumpy Skin Disease
On January 19, Spain reported one case of lumpy skin disease in Catalonia. Four cattle were infected.
6. Malaysia Reports 2 Cases of Lumpy Skin Disease
On January 21, Malaysia reported two cases of lumpy skin disease across two locations, including Pahang State. Thirteen cattle were infected.
7. Norway Reports 1 Case of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease
On January 19, Norway reported one case of rabbit hemorrhagic disease in South Trøndelag County. Two domestic rabbits were infected and died.

On January 20, South Sudan reported one case of anthrax in Warrap State. Three hundred four cattle were infected, 172 died, and 75 were culled.

On January 22, Mexico reported 18 cases of New World screwworm myiasis across six locations, including Tamaulipas State. Eighteen livestock, including cattle and horses, were infected.
13. Belize Reports 2 Cases of New World Screwworm Myiasis
On January 22, Belize reported two cases of New World screwworm myiasis in Orange Walk District. One domestic dog and one horse were infected.
14. Chile Reports 1 Case of Equine Infectious Anemia
On January 22, Chile reported one case of equine infectious anemia in Coquimbo Region. Three horses were infected, and one was culled.

On January 22 and 23, Romania reported two cases of Salmonella abortusovis in Maramureș County. Three sheep were infected.

2. Moldova Reports 3 Cases in Wild Boars and 1 Case in Domestic Pigs
On January 19 and 22, Moldova reported three cases of African swine fever in wild boars and one case in domestic pigs across three locations, including Călărași District. Three wild boars and one domestic pig were infected and died.
3. Croatia Reports 11 Cases in Wild Boars and 1 Case in Domestic Pigs
On January 19 and 20, Croatia reported 11 cases of African swine fever in wild boars and one case in domestic pigs across two locations, including Vukovar-Srijem County. Eighteen wild boars were infected and died, one domestic pig was infected and died, and 21 domestic pigs were culled.
