Avian Influenza

 


1. Luxembourg reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 6, Luxembourg reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in Grevenmacher District, resulting in 26 wild and backyard birds infected and dead, and 21 culled.

 

2. The United States reported five outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 6, the United States reported five outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in five locations including Washington state, resulting in 128 wild and backyard birds infected and dead, and 30 culled.

 

3. The Netherlands reported 19 outbreaks in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1)

On February 2 and 6, the Netherlands reported 19 outbreaks in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in seven locations including Drenthe Province, resulting in 40 wild and backyard birds infected, 31 dead, and 449 culled; 40 commercial poultry infected and dead, and 15,000 culled.

 

4. Poland reported 38 outbreaks in wild birds and eight outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1)

On February 2, 3, and 5, Poland reported 38 outbreaks in wild birds and eight outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in six locations including Greater Poland Voivodeship, resulting in 64 wild birds infected and dead; 99,000 poultry infected, and 217 dead.

 

5. Moldova reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 2 and 6, Moldova reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in two locations including Dondușeni District, resulting in two wild birds infected and dead.

 

6. The United Kingdom reported 72 outbreaks in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1)

On February 2 and 6, the UK reported 72 outbreaks in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in two locations including England, resulting in 89 wild and backyard birds infected, 87 dead, and 543 culled; 16 commercial poultry infected, and 11 culled.

 

7. France reported one outbreak in poultry and 19 outbreaks in wild birds of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1)

On February 3 and 6, France reported one outbreak in poultry and 19 outbreaks in wild birds of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in eight locations including Pas-de-Calais, resulting in 530 poultry infected and dead, and 12,000 culled; 110 wild and backyard birds infected and dead, and 219 culled.

 

8. Hungary reported seven outbreaks in wild birds and two outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1)

On February 3 and 6, Hungary reported seven outbreaks in wild birds and two outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in three locations including Békés County, resulting in 56 wild birds infected and dead; 200 poultry infected and dead, and 7,958 culled.

 

9. Nigeria reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in poultry

On February 3, Nigeria reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in poultry in Kano State, resulting in 340 poultry infected, 40 dead, and 310 culled.

 

10. Germany reported 98 outbreaks in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1)

On February 3 and 4, Germany reported 98 outbreaks in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in three locations including Lower Saxony, resulting in 168 wild and backyard birds infected, 141 dead, and 62 culled; 19 commercial poultry infected and dead, and 19,000 culled.

 

11. Slovakia reported one outbreak in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1)

On February 3 and 6, Slovakia reported one outbreak in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in two locations including Zlín Region, resulting in one wild bird and 7,000 poultry infected and dead.

 

12. Slovenia reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 6, Slovenia reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in Podravska Region, resulting in four wild birds infected and dead.

 

13. Czech Republic reported 11 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 3, 4, and 5, the Czech Republic reported 11 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in five locations including Pardubice Region, resulting in 103 wild and backyard birds infected and dead, and 269 culled.

 

14. Bulgaria reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in poultry

On February 4, Bulgaria reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in poultry in Pleven Province, resulting in 1,100 poultry infected and dead.

 

15. Switzerland reported three outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 4, Switzerland reported three outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in two locations including Thurgau Canton, resulting in three wild birds infected and dead.

 

16. Sweden reported 19 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 4 and 5, Sweden reported 19 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in five locations including Skurup Municipality, resulting in 23 wild and backyard birds infected, 22 dead, and 17 culled.

 

17. Austria reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 5, Austria reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in Tyrol, resulting in one wild bird infected and dead.

 

18. Italy reported seven outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in poultry

On February 6, Italy reported seven outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in poultry in two locations including Lombardy, resulting in 43,000 poultry infected, 2,735 dead, and 989,000 culled.

 

19. Romania reported four outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 6, Romania reported four outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in three locations including Tulcea County, resulting in 128 wild and backyard birds infected, 66 dead, and 218 culled.

 

20. Norway reported six outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds

On February 6, Norway reported six outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in Vestlandet, resulting in nine wild birds infected and dead.

On February 3 and 5, Poland reported five outbreaks of Newcastle disease in three locations including Łódź Voivodeship, resulting in 319,000 poultry infected, 1,615 dead, and 272,000 culled.

 

2. Israel reported 16 outbreaks of Newcastle disease

On February 5, Israel reported 16 outbreaks of Newcastle disease in the Southern District, resulting in 189,000 poultry infected and dead, and 20,000 culled.

 

3. Bulgaria reported one outbreak of sheep pox and goat pox

On February 2, Bulgaria reported one outbreak of sheep pox and goat pox in Plovdiv Province, resulting in 15 goats infected and 14 dead.

 

4. Israel reported one outbreak of sheep pox and goat pox

On February 4, Israel reported one outbreak of sheep pox and goat pox in the Southern District, resulting in 30 sheep infected.

 

5. North Macedonia reported two outbreaks of sheep pox and goat pox

On February 5, North Macedonia reported two outbreaks of sheep pox and goat pox in Lipkovo, resulting in six sheep infected and one dead.

 

6. Austria reported five outbreaks of bovine tuberculosis

On February 4 and 5, Austria reported five outbreaks of bovine tuberculosis in Tyrol, resulting in five cattle infected and seven culled.

 

7. The United Kingdom reported eight outbreaks of bluetongue virus serotype 3

On February 4 and 6, the UK reported eight outbreaks of bluetongue virus serotype 3 in three locations including Northern Ireland, resulting in 10 cattle infected, two dead, and one culled.

 

8. Ireland reported two outbreaks of bluetongue virus serotype 3

On February 3, Ireland reported two outbreaks of bluetongue virus serotype 3 in County Wexford, resulting in two cattle infected.

 

9. Poland reported five outbreaks of bluetongue disease

On February 3, Poland reported five outbreaks of bluetongue disease, including three of serotype 3 and two of undetermined serotype, in three locations including Pomeranian Voivodeship, resulting in nine cattle infected.

 

10. South Africa reported 120 outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease (1 serotype SAT1 and 119 serotype SAT2)

On February 3 and 4, South Africa reported 120 outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease (1 serotype SAT1 and 119 serotype SAT2) in four locations including Free State Province, resulting in 4,671 cattle and 10 domestic pigs infected, and 17 cattle dead.

1. Hungary reported 58 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boar

On February 2, Hungary reported 58 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boar in four locations including Baranya County, resulting in 83 wild boar infected and dead.

 

2. Croatia reported 19 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boar

On February 2, Croatia reported 19 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boar in Osijek-Baranja County, resulting in 40 wild boar infected and dead.

 

3. Romania reported 140 outbreaks in wild boar and 66 outbreaks in domestic pigs of African swine fever

On February 3 and 6, Romania reported 140 outbreaks in wild boar and 66 outbreaks in domestic pigs of African swine fever in nine locations including Iași County, resulting in 317 wild boar infected and dead; 6,341 domestic pigs infected, 649 dead, and 7,198 culled.

 

4. Serbia reported one outbreak of African swine fever in domestic pigs

On February 3, Serbia reported one outbreak of African swine fever in domestic pigs in Kolubara District, resulting in five domestic pigs infected and dead, and 50 culled.

 

5. Laos reported one outbreak of African swine fever in domestic pigs

On February 3, Laos reported one outbreak of African swine fever in domestic pigs in Xaisomboun Province, resulting in 108 domestic pigs infected, 88 dead, and 84 culled.

On February 5, Greece reported one outbreak of African swine fever in wild boar in Drama regional unit, resulting in 20 wild boar infected and dead.

 

8. Italy reported 32 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boar

On February 6, Italy reported 32 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boar in three locations including Liguria, Piedmont, and Tuscany, resulting in 32 wild boar infected and dead.

On February 6, Spain reported three outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boar in Catalonia, resulting in 39 wild boar infected and dead.
