1.  Canada reported 1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreak in wild birds

On February 12, Canada reported 1 outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in Nova Scotia, with 10 wild and backyard birds infected, 8 deaths, and 292 culled.

 

2.  USA reported 11 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds and 14 in poultry

On February 9, 13, and 20, the USA reported 11 outbreaks in wild birds and 14 outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in Indiana and 6 other locations. 172 wild and backyard birds died, 64 were culled; 1,121 commercial poultry died, and 571,000 were culled.

 

3.  Netherlands reported 32 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds and 2 in poultry

On February 9, 11, and 16, the Netherlands reported 32 outbreaks in wild birds and 2 outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in Utrecht province and 5 other locations. 44 wild and backyard birds died, 353 were culled; 55 commercial poultry were infected, 20 died, and 70,000 were culled.

 

4.  Poland reported 49 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds and 8 in poultry

On February 9, 10, 11, and 13, Poland reported 49 outbreaks in wild birds and 8 outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship and 3 other locations. 181 wild and backyard birds were infected, 131 died; 204,000 commercial poultry were infected, 12,000 died, and 470,000 were culled.

 

5.  Germany reported 116 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds and 1 in poultry

On February 9 and 10, Germany reported 116 outbreaks in wild birds and 1 outbreak in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in Hesse and 2 other locations. 133 wild and backyard birds were infected, 128 died, 144 were culled; 114 commercial poultry were infected, 34 died, and 51,000 were culled.

 

6.  Czech Republic reported 14 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds and 2 in poultry

On February 9, 11, and 13, the Czech Republic reported 14 outbreaks in wild birds and 2 outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in Moravia and 3 other locations. 35 wild and backyard birds died, 66 were culled; 100 commercial poultry died.

 

7.  Iceland reported 2 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds

On February 9, Iceland reported 2 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in the Capital Region, with 2 wild birds dying.

 

8.  Hungary reported 21 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds

On February 10, 11, and 12, Hungary reported 21 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in Somogy County and 4 other locations, with 42 wild birds dying.

 

9.  Slovakia reported 4 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds and 2 in poultry

On February 10 and 13, Slovakia reported 4 outbreaks in wild birds and 2 outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in Prešov Region and 2 other locations. 29 wild birds died; 1,508 poultry were infected, 1,308 died, and 30,000 were culled.

 

10. Denmark reported 3 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in poultry

On February 10 and 18, Denmark reported 3 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in poultry in Guldborgsund Municipality and 1 other location. 49 poultry died, and 803 were culled.

 

11. Sweden reported 9 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds

On February 10 and 17, Sweden reported 9 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in Gotland County, with 16 wild birds infected and 9 deaths.

 

12. Austria reported 9 highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in wild birds

On February 11 and 16, Austria reported 9 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in Burgenland and 1 other location, with 23 wild birds dying.

On February 13, the UK reported 22 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in wild birds in England and Scotland, with 24 wild birds dying.

On February 18 and 19, France reported 19 outbreaks in wild birds and 4 outbreaks in poultry of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in Gers department and 6 other locations. 107 wild and backyard birds died, 111 were culled; 233 commercial poultry died, and 17,000 were culled.

On February 19, South Korea reported 28 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in poultry in Gyeonggi-do Province and 4 other locations. 5,652 poultry were infected, 4,394 died, and 285,000 were culled.
