Avian Influenza

 

 

1. The Netherlands reported 10 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On August 5, the Netherlands reported 10 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Friesland Province and 3 other locations, resulting in 10 wild birds infected and died.

 

2. Finland reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in wild birds

On August 5, Finland reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Southern Finland Province, resulting in 1 wild bird infected and died.

 

3. Sweden reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in wild birds

On August 6, Sweden reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Sölvesborg Municipality, resulting in 1 wild bird infected and died.

 

4. Chile reported 5 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On August 4, Chile reported 5 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Maule Region and one other location, resulting in 205 wild birds and backyard poultry infected, 149 deaths, and 280 culled.

 

5. Australia reported 44 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On August 7, Australia reported 44 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in South Australia and 2 other locations, resulting in 60 wild birds infected and died.

 

6. The United States reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in poultry

On August 7, the United States reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in poultry in Indiana, resulting in 20,000 poultry culled.

 

7. Mexico reported 1 H7N3 HPAI outbreak in wild birds

On August 7, Mexico reported 1 outbreak of H7N3 HPAI in wild birds in Chiapas State, resulting in 1 wild bird infected and died.

1. Spain reported 1 Newcastle disease outbreak

On August 4, Spain reported 1 outbreak of Newcastle disease in Castile and León, resulting in 2,317 poultry infected and died, and 33,000 culled.

 

2. Singapore reported 1 Newcastle disease outbreak

On August 4, Singapore reported 1 outbreak of Newcastle disease in the North Region, resulting in 77,000 poultry infected.

 

3. Peru reported 1 Newcastle disease outbreak

On August 4, Peru reported 1 outbreak of Newcastle disease in Arequipa Province, resulting in 36,000 poultry infected and died, and 428,000 culled.

 

4. Turkey reported 3 rabies outbreaks

On August 3, Turkey reported 3 outbreaks of rabies in Van Province and 2 other locations, resulting in 1 cattle and 2 domestic dogs infected and died.

On August 7, Romania reported 3 outbreaks of rabies in Neamț County and 2 other locations, resulting in 1 cattle, 1 domestic cat and 1 wild red fox infected and culled.

 

8. Romania reported 2 sheep pox outbreaks

On August 3 and 6, Romania reported 2 outbreaks of sheep pox in Iași County and one other location, resulting in 562 sheep infected and 43 deaths.

 

9. Bulgaria reported 2 sheep pox outbreaks

On August 3, Bulgaria reported 2 outbreaks of sheep pox in Stara Zagora Province, resulting in 19 sheep infected and 256 culled.

 

10. Greece reported 9 sheep pox outbreaks

On August 6, Greece reported 9 outbreaks of sheep pox in Preveza Prefecture and one other location, resulting in 140 sheep infected, 19 deaths, and 781 culled.

 

11. North Macedonia reported 6 sheep pox outbreaks

On August 7, North Macedonia reported 6 outbreaks of sheep pox in Kamenica Municipality and 2 other locations, resulting in 18 sheep infected, 8 deaths, and 1,753 culled.

 

12. The United States reported 1 scrapie outbreak

On August 3, the United States reported 1 outbreak of scrapie in Oregon State, resulting in 1 sheep infected.

 

13. France reported 5 West Nile fever outbreaks

On August 5, Mexico reported 11 outbreaks of New World screwworm in Chihuahua State and one other location, resulting in 10 cattle and 1 domestic dog infected.

On August 3 and 7, the United States reported 2 outbreaks of New World screwworm in Texas, resulting in 2 cattle and 1 sheep infected.

 

20. South Africa reported 94 SAT1 FMD outbreaks

On August 3 and 6, South Africa reported 94 outbreaks of SAT1 foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in North West Province and 3 other locations, resulting in 2,382 cattle infected, 382 deaths, and 200 culled.

 

21. Eswatini reported 1 SAT1 FMD outbreak

On August 5, Eswatini reported 1 outbreak of SAT1 FMD in Hhohho Region, resulting in 7 cattle infected.

 

22. Botswana reported 4 SAT1 FMD outbreaks

On August 7, Botswana reported 4 outbreaks of SAT1 FMD in the Southern District and one other location, resulting in 125 cattle and 2 wild eland infected.

 

23. Greece reported 5 SAT1 FMD outbreaks

On August 7, Greece reported 5 outbreaks of SAT1 FMD on the island of Lesbos, resulting in 3 cattle and 322 sheep and goats infected.

1. Hungary reported 15 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 3, Hungary reported 15 outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boar in Baranya County and 3 other locations, resulting in 20 wild boar infected and died.

 

2. Italy reported 71 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 3 and 7, Italy reported 71 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Emilia-Romagna and 2 other regions, resulting in 71 wild boar infected and died.

 

3. Serbia reported 2 ASF outbreaks in domestic pigs

On August 3, Serbia reported 2 outbreaks of ASF in domestic pigs in West Bačka District, resulting in 2 domestic pigs infected, 1 death, and 14 culled.

 

4. Latvia reported 12 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 4, Latvia reported 12 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Talsi Municipality and 2 other locations, resulting in 12 wild boar infected and died.

 

5. Estonia reported 2 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 4, Estonia reported 2 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Harju County, resulting in 2 wild boar infected and died.

 

6. Ukraine reported 1 ASF outbreak in domestic pigs

On August 4, Ukraine reported 1 outbreak of ASF in domestic pigs in Odesa Oblast, resulting in 1 domestic pig infected and died.

 

7. Moldova reported 3 ASF outbreaks in domestic pigs

On August 4 and 7, Moldova reported 3 outbreaks of ASF in domestic pigs in the Gagauz Autonomous Region and 2 other locations, resulting in 5 domestic pigs infected, 1 death, and 51 culled.

 

8. Germany reported 13 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 5, Germany reported 13 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Brandenburg, resulting in 13 wild boar infected and died.

 

9. Bulgaria reported 1 ASF outbreak in domestic pigs

On August 7, Bulgaria reported 1 outbreak of ASF in domestic pigs in Varna Province, resulting in 42 domestic pigs infected and died.

 

10. Bosnia and Herzegovina reported 2 ASF outbreaks in domestic pigs

On August 7, Bosnia and Herzegovina reported 2 outbreaks of ASF in domestic pigs in Republika Srpska, resulting in 2 domestic pigs infected and died, and 42 culled.

 

11. Romania reported 1 ASF outbreak in wild boar and 36 in domestic pigs

On August 7, Romania reported 1 outbreak in wild boar and 36 in domestic pigs of ASF in Bacău County and 4 other locations, resulting in 1 wild boar infected and died, and among domestic pigs, 212 infected, 53 deaths, and 1,753 culled.

 

12. South Africa reported 2 ASF outbreaks in domestic pigs

On August 6, South Africa reported 2 outbreaks of ASF in domestic pigs in Gauteng Province, resulting in 5,479 domestic pigs infected, 5,478 deaths, and 37,000 culled.
