Avian Influenza

 

 

1. Sweden reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in poultry

On August 17, Sweden reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in poultry in Tanum Municipality, resulting in 67 poultry infected, 62 deaths, and 83 culled.

 

2. The Netherlands reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in wild birds

On August 17, the Netherlands reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in South Holland Province, resulting in 1 wild bird infected and died.

 

3. Norway reported 3 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

On August 21, Norway reported 3 outbreaks of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Telemark County, resulting in 5 wild birds infected and died.

 

4. The United States reported 2 H5 subtype HPAI outbreaks in poultry

On August 17 and 21, the United States reported 2 outbreaks of H5 subtype HPAI in poultry in Indiana, resulting in 35,000 poultry culled.

 

5. Peru reported 20 H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds

7. Chile reported 1 H5N1 HPAI outbreak in wild birds

On August 17, Chile reported 1 outbreak of H5N1 HPAI in wild birds in Maule Region, resulting in 4 wild birds and backyard poultry infected and died, and 131 culled.

1. Spain reported 2 Newcastle disease outbreaks

On August 19 and 21, Spain reported 2 outbreaks of Newcastle disease in Castile and León, resulting in 3,927 poultry infected and died, and 81,000 poultry culled.

 

2. Romania reported 5 rabies outbreaks

On August 21, Romania reported 5 outbreaks of rabies in Vrancea County and 3 other locations, resulting in 2 domestic dogs, 1 domestic cat and 2 wild red foxes infected and died.

 

3. Moldova reported 3 rabies outbreaks

On August 17 and 19, Moldova reported 3 outbreaks of rabies in Hîncești District and one other location, resulting in 1 cattle and 2 domestic dogs infected and died.

On August 18, France reported 13 outbreaks of West Nile fever in Bouches-du-Rhône and 3 other locations, resulting in 15 horses infected.

On August 19, Austria reported 1 outbreak of West Nile fever in Lower Austria, resulting in 1 wild bird infected and died.

On August 21, North Macedonia reported 1 outbreak of West Nile fever in Karpoš Municipality, resulting in 1 wild bird infected and died.

 

15. Ecuador reported 2 myxomatosis outbreaks

On August 19, Ecuador reported 2 outbreaks of myxomatosis in Pastaza Province, resulting in 3 domestic rabbits infected and died.

 

16. Israel reported 2 lumpy skin disease outbreaks

On August 20, Israel reported 2 outbreaks of lumpy skin disease in the Northern District, resulting in 3 cattle infected.

On August 20, South Africa reported 28 outbreaks of SAT1 foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Mpumalanga Province and 4 other locations, resulting in 811 cattle infected and 10 deaths.

 

21. Greece reported 7 SAT1 FMD outbreaks

On August 21, Greece reported 7 outbreaks of SAT1 FMD on the island of Lesbos, resulting in 464 sheep and goats infected.

 

 

African Swine Fever

 

 

1. Hungary reported 10 ASF outbreaks in wild boar and 2 in domestic pigs

On August 17 and 19, Hungary reported 10 outbreaks in wild boar and 2 in domestic pigs of African swine fever (ASF) in Komárom-Esztergom County and 2 other locations, resulting in 14 wild boar infected and died, and an unspecified number of domestic pigs infected.

 

2. Croatia reported 4 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 17, Croatia reported 4 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Osijek-Baranja County, resulting in 6 wild boar infected and died.

 

3. Finland reported 5 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 17, Finland reported 5 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Southern Finland Region, resulting in 5 wild boar infected and died.

 

4. Poland reported 26 ASF outbreaks in wild boar and 2 in domestic pigs

On August 17, Poland reported 26 outbreaks in wild boar and 2 in domestic pigs of ASF in Pomeranian Voivodeship and 5 other locations, resulting in 40 wild boar infected and died, and among domestic pigs, 276 infected, 30 deaths, and 3,075 culled.

 

5. Latvia reported 20 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 18, Latvia reported 20 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Tukums Municipality and 4 other locations, resulting in 20 wild boar infected and died.

 

6. Estonia reported 2 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 18, Estonia reported 2 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Harju County and one other location, resulting in 2 wild boar infected and died.

On August 18, Ukraine reported 1 outbreak of ASF in domestic pigs in Odesa Oblast, resulting in 5 domestic pigs infected and died.

 

8. Italy reported 23 ASF outbreaks in wild boar

On August 21, Italy reported 23 outbreaks of ASF in wild boar in Piedmont and 3 other regions, resulting in 23 wild boar infected and died.

 

9. Moldova reported 1 ASF outbreak in domestic pigs

On August 21, Moldova reported 1 outbreak of ASF in domestic pigs in Ocnița District, resulting in 2 domestic pigs infected and died.

 

10. Romania reported 3 ASF outbreaks in wild boar and 18 in domestic pigs

On August 21, Romania reported 3 outbreaks in wild boar and 18 in domestic pigs of ASF in Cluj County and 3 other locations, resulting in 4 wild boar infected and died, and among domestic pigs, 235 infected, 27 deaths, and 206 culled.
